Support Groups
Support groups focus on a specific population, with discussion topics tailored to their unique shared experience.
Groups may be offered for:
- Women who were raped as teenagers or adults
- Women who were sexually abused as children
- Men who were sexually abused
- Partners, friends and family members of survivors
Groups are usually eight to ten weeks long.
You can inquire about available support groups by calling 335.6000 Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm or e-mailing Karen at johnson-county-services-rvap@uiowa.edu.
To sign up for a group, you will need to make an appointment to meet with one of the facilitators prior to the beginning of group.
Most groups are a closed format (no new members may join after the group has begun.) Each group is run by two RVAP staff facilitators. Groups are limited to 8 participants.
