Rape Victim Advocacy Program

The Rape Victim Advocacy Program seeks Education Coordinator. Duties include: coordinate and present sexual abuse education and prevention programs including the Speakers Bureau, the Information Bureau, and special programs. Will also coordinate and present sexual abuse education and prevention programs to youth within the RVAP service area. Position assists in day-to-day operation of the crisis line, counseling, and advocacy services.
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in human services or related field, excellent written and oral communication skills, and computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office, Internet Explorer, and e-mail.
Desirable qualifications include fluency in Spanish and experience with:
- Educational programming development, event planning and public speaking
- Primary prevention as it relates to a public health model
- Classroom teaching
- Working with youth (ages 12-18)
- Working with sexual abuse survivors as paid staff or trained volunteer in a rape crisis center or similar setting
Successful candidate must have valid driver’s license and own vehicle. Must be able to take crisis call shifts on a rotational basis with other staff members and live within 20 minutes of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Successful candidate will be required to complete RVAP Advocate training within one year. Successful candidate will be required to complete IowaCASA Sexual Abuse Counselor training within one year and certification within two years.
