Your Rights ׀ What you can do ׀ If you have been sexually assaulted
Your Rights
No one has the right to touch you when you do not want them to. This includes:
• Family members
• Staff people
• Attendants
• Co-workers
• Friends
• Anyone else
What you can do
If someone touches you in a sexual way or makes you touch them in a way that makes you feel bad:
• Tell them to stop
• Get away from the person (if you can)
• Tell someone you trust
• Call the Rape Victim Advocacy Program (RVAP) hotline 335-6000 or 1-800-228-1625 for help and support
If you have been sexually assaulted
You do not have to do this alone. RVAP offers the following services for you:
• Crisis Counseling – 24-hour crisis line which provides support, information and referral
* Advocacy – a support person to be with you for all meetings and procedures
* Individual Counseling – RVAP provides free and confidential face to face counseling call the Crisis Line for information or to make an appointment

• There are counselors and advocates available to help you through the process after an assault. Feelings of fear, loss, anger, distrust, confusion and self-blame are normal. You may want to go to a hospital for an exam Medical Options
• Strong feelings are normal. It is sometimes helpful to talk to someone you trust about what happened and what you are feeling.
